LAMPIÃO (1973) Lampião is a Brazilian Northeastern psychedelic rock instrumental journey inspired by the heat, dust, landscapes and musical traditions of the sertão. Built around fuzz and wah-wah electric guitar, electric bass, dry acoustic drums, Hammond organ, viola, rabeca, pífano, zabumba, triangle and hand percussion, the album blends the raw energy of psychedelic rock with the rhythmic and melodic character of Brazil's Northeast. Across ten tracks, the record moves through dusty roads, burning sunlight, mandacaru, nocturnal caatinga, electric rabeca and the restless atmosphere of the cangaço — shifting between hypnotic grooves, distorted guitar passages, regional instrumentation and vintage tape experimentation. The sound is dry, warm and psychedelic — like discovering an obscure Brazilian record from 1973 recorded somewhere between a rural studio, a roadside gathering and the endless red dust of the sertão.
