This is not your normal Revit MEP tutorial. It's 2 licensed PEs, electrical and mechanical, opening the architect's model on a real 3 story school for the first time and finding everything wrong with it before design starts. This is ep 2 of the series. There's a difference between the engineer a project team wants to work with and the one they don't. It's not who knows the most code. It's who catches problems early, and how they bring them up. That's what this episode is. Josh (mechanical PE) and Sam (electrical PE) open the architect's Revit model, and walk the building floor by floor. We find the main electrical room sitting on an interior wall in the front vestibule, and also that there's no mechanical room at all. Yeah...that's not gonna work. Then we talk about the part no one teaches you: what you actually say to the architect. Because they're usually the ones who hired you. You don't get to tell them they messed up. You show them the problem, you tell them what you need, and you find something to trade back. Catch this stuff at SD and it's a conversation. Catch it at 70% CD and it's a lot of frustrated people.
