Free PLC training: write and test your first Allen-Bradley Micro800 PLC project, a conveyor start/stop seal-in circuit in ladder logic, using Connected Components Workbench and the built-in Micro800 Simulator. No hardware needed. Download CCW for free and follow along, then try the programming challenge at the end. https://compatibility.rockwellautomat... A start button, a stop button and a presence sensor are wired to the embedded inputs of an Allen-Bradley Micro800 PLC, and a motor starter is wired to one of its embedded outputs. The conveyor starts when the operator presses Start and keeps running after the button is released. It stops on the stop button or when the end-of-conveyor sensor trips, and it won't restart until both are clear. The only thing you need is Connected Components Workbench. It's Rockwell Automation's free development environment for Micro800 PLCs, and it includes a built-in simulator. We'll create the project, add the simulator-compatible 2080-LC50-48QWB-SIM controller and write a seal-in circuit in ladder diagram, which is one of the most common patterns in PLC programming. Then we'll download it to the Micro800 Simulator and test it by toggling the inputs and watching the logic in real time. To finish, there's a programming challenge: update the project to turn on a stack light when the conveyor is running. Send me a screenshot of your solution if you'd like feedback. New to PLCs?
