Legend has it that the artist behind "Black Cloud" delisted his song from the store in response to negative feedback regarding the chart's quality. I have also seen people claim he would copyright claim and take down the corresponding videos at the time, although that's pretty much unverifiable. Either way, I don't think we need to apologize for that one. This is one of the worst guitar charts in Rock Band. There really isn't any part of this that was authored properly. All of the riffs, solos, and fills are plagued with weird forcing, inappropriate spacing, and note wrapping that makes zero sense. Funnily enough, the chart looks even worse in RB3, where a BEAT track misalignment pushes the lines on the highway all out of whack. The first solo at 1:32 isn't too tricky, although the ascending bit with the forced strums at 1:37 is definitely a minor miss point. (Check out that double yellow HOPO just a couple seconds later, by the way. Not to be outdone, there's a blue one later on at 2:39 as well.) I think he did just copy and paste that part again for 1:45. At 2:19 there's a second solo that takes a while to get going but includes by far the hardest part of the song in 2:52. I actually think the hard chart is closer to what we should be playing than the expert chart. It's one of those where I have to assume he just couldn't figure out how to author triplets so he just did this garbage instead. 3:12 is pretty weird too, but the rest of the song is trivial. All he had to do was make a normal chart (or have someone else do it for him) and then not be a dingus online and genuinely nobody would have ever given this one a second thought. Four-minute instrumental RBN slop project is enough of a subgenre in the game already that "Black Cloud" easily could have ended up as nothing more than a row on a spreadsheet we only play once on each instrument and then never talk about again. Instead, with it belonging to the group of rare delists, and especially with it having a nontraditional reason for its disappearance, it's far more likely to receive attention (mostly negative) than he would have otherwise ever received for the track. I guess you can't win 'em all.
