What have England actually learned from one of the strangest summers in recent memory? I've worked on commentary for 27 matches during the English season — across Tests, ODIs, T20s, The Hundred and the Women's T20 World Cup — and England have somehow managed to look brilliant, vulnerable and completely unpredictable, sometimes within the space of a few weeks. The men's Test side lost a series to New Zealand, changed captain and coach, then whitewashed Pakistan 3-0. The T20 side crushed world champions India 4-0, briefly reached number one in the world and then swept Sri Lanka 3-0. But ODI cricket remains fascinating. England can produce enormous performances, but the defeat to Sri Lanka at Headingley showed they're far from invincible — and raises bigger questions about how England develop 50-over players when many of them play so little domestic List A cricket. Meanwhile, England's women went unbeaten all the way to a home T20 World Cup final before Australia once again proved why they're the benchmark in women's cricket. So where does English cricket actually stand at the end of the summer? And with England's men heading to Pakistan next for an ODI tri-series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, we're about to find out whether their impressive home form travels. #EnglandCricket #Cricket #ENGvSL #TeamEngland #T20WorldCup #TestCricket #ODICricket
