The Language Of The Spirit II INTRODUCTION There is a language of the Spirit, which can be either known or unknown. In our time, we often talk about speaking positively instead of negatively, speaking life instead of death, and using our words to change the atmosphere around us. However, there is a language that goes beyond our natural vocabulary, which is the language of the Spirit, and we need the Holy Spirit to enable us to speak it. Today, we are going to speak about the language of the Spirit. THE UNKNOWN TONGUE Paul teaches us in 1 Corinthians 14:2 that when we speak in an unknown tongue, we are not speaking to people but directly to God. We must learn how to communicate with God and never rely solely on our natural language, because there are things your natural vocabulary cannot express and mysteries that your mind cannot articulate. That is why God has given us the language of the Spirit, as tongues separate us from the limitations of human communication to serve as a direct language between you and God where we speak mysteries of the Spirit. The language of the Spirit goes far beyond our vocabulary, so what you cannot articulate with your mind, your spirit can communicate to God, filling the gap between what you know and what you do not know. WHY DO WE NEED THE LANGUAGE OF THE SPIRIT? In 1 Corinthians 14:14–15, Paul explains that when he prays in a tongue, his spirit prays even when his understanding is unfruitful. There are moments when you do not know what to pray about, situations where you lack the words, and burdens you cannot explain, which is precisely when you can enter into prayer in the Spirit. Because the things of the Spirit contain mysteries, the Holy Spirit provides us with a language that allows our spirit to communicate with God beyond the limitations of our understanding, so whenever you do not know what to pray, you should pray in the Spirit. WHY BELIEVERS NEED TO SPEAK IN TONGUES According to 1 Corinthians 14:4 and Jude 1:20, he who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, meaning that when you pray in the Spirit, you are actively building yourself spiritually. Just as physical exercise strengthens your physical body, praying in the Spirit strengthens and builds your inner man in a personal process between you and God. There are things God wants to build inside you before He changes things around you, and because the greatest building God is doing is sometimes not visible on the outside, you are being built from the inside out as you trust Him to enable you to speak the language of the Spirit. Additionally, Romans 8:26–27 reminds us that the Spirit helps us in our weakness when burdens are simply too heavy for our natural language, situations are beyond our understanding, or prayers are too difficult to formulate. When you do not know what to say or pray, the Spirit knows and helps you pray, allowing us to carry burdens beyond our natural ability. Furthermore, Ephesians 6:18 instructs us to pray in the Spirit on all occasions because we are in a spiritual battle that requires spiritual preparation rather than natural strength. Praying in the Spirit keeps you spiritually alert, equipped, and connected to God during seasons of unseen battles and spiritual dynamics that you may not fully comprehend in the natural. Finally, as seen in Acts 10:45–47, when the Holy Spirit came upon the believers, they began speaking in tongues and magnifying God. Sometimes our natural vocabulary is insufficient to express the greatness of God, but when words fail, the Spirit gives us a language through which we can continuously magnify and glorify Him as we were created to do. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE KEY Nothing happens in the spiritual life without the work of the Holy Spirit, who enables you to operate far beyond your natural limitations when He comes upon you. You need the Holy Spirit to tap into this language because while there are things your mind cannot comprehend, your mouth cannot articulate, and your mind cannot explain, your spirit can communicate these mysteries to God. While your natural language is bound by limitations, the language of the Spirit has no such restrictions. God is calling us deeper into a relationship where we do not communicate with Him only through what we understand, but learn to pray far beyond our understanding. Whenever you do not know what to pray, when a burden becomes too heavy, when you enter a season of spiritual warfare, or when you desire to magnify God beyond the reach of your vocabulary, you must pray in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit has gifted us a language designed for prayer, intercession, edification, warfare, and worship, so we should no longer remain limited by our natural vocabulary, but step forward to actively speak the language of the Spirit. #ApstleJosh #NewLanguage #Relationship
