Why Didn’t Arthas Take the Helm Sooner?

Arthas held Frostmourne at the foot of the very glacier where the Frozen Throne waited, with the Helm of Domination inside it. So why didn't he climb? Why did he turn around and drag the Scourge through Lordaeron, Quel'Thalas, Dalaran and Kalimdor before coming back to the same ice? This World of Warcraft lore deep dive puts the pieces of Warcraft 3 back together and shows that Arthas's detour was never a detour at all. In this video you'll find out why Ner'zhul, the Lich King, was a prisoner and not a king; who the five dreadlords guarding him really were (Tichondrius, Mal'Ganis, Balnazzar, Detheroc and Varimathras); why Mal'Ganis had to die in Northrend; why the Burning Legion was brought to Azeroth only to lose; how Illidan and the Skull of Gul'dan fit into the plan; what Kil'jaeden promised Ner'zhul; and who really opened the first crack in the Frozen Throne. From Stratholme to the Sunwell, from Hyjal to Anub'arak's tunnels, all the way up the stairs to "Return the blade... complete the circle". ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 The sword at the foot of the glacier 1:01 Northrend: what Arthas believed 2:12 Who really sent the sword 3:33 Inside the Frozen Throne: Ner'zhul the prisoner 4:50 The five dreadlords 5:59 The War of the Spider and the Cult of the Damned 7:13 Lordaeron: the hero comes home 8:37 The jailers 10:31 One of the five, gone 10:59 Quel'Thalas: two masters pleased 12:11 Dalaran: too deep to back out 13:37 Kalimdor: the stretch everyone forgets 15:10 Mount Hyjal: the Lich King says no 16:13 The crack in the Frozen Throne 17:10 Civil war in Lordaeron 18:46 The race to Icecrown 20:05 The throne: complete the circle 21:14 The circle closes 21:44 An escape, one lock at a time If you like finding out what's behind the official version of Warcraft lore, subscribe: there's a lot more where this came from. #WorldofWarcraft #WoWLore #Arthas #LichKing #Warcraft3
