Most of them are just me making up stuff, loosely based in canon or in words I've seen fans use to describe Rang's view of Yeon. The "my world, my salvation" title card wording comes directly from an official character quote poster for episode 8 of season 1 and I feel like that kind of sums up something never really directly put in words in the show-- that Rang is so strongly attached to Yeon partially, among many other reasons, because he views Yeon as his savior. Rang strives to be like Yeon when he saves and protects other people he cares about, but his love for Yeon is special in that Yeon is the person he views as his own protector and safe place. The love Rang gives to others is, by extension, another presentation of his love for Yeon, as he is trying to become like Yeon. Because in his mind, Yeon is the most precious person to him and he cannot imagine any higher form of love than to play the role of Yeon in others' lives. Anyway, yes, if this video seems very Rang-centric that's because my whole goal with this video was to portray Rang's feelings for Yeon, because I feel like the love Rang has for Yeon is very extraordinary and more compelling than most love I've seen in fiction (especially since it's rare for a platonic relationship to be portrayed as this important for a character), and it's a huge part of why I love his character so much. I have some plans for a few videos a bit more centered on Yeon's view of Rang since S2 now gave me more content to work with, but Rang is still my baby who I like to edit the most hehe. I have plenty more edit ideas for them and this show, the end is not anywhere near I fear!! Also as a complete aside, let me comment for a moment on some thoughts after completing S2: I feel like I'm the only one still in deep mourning for Rang even after S2.💀 Many seem convinced his ending in S2 is happy but I'm not so sure... It seems to me like the events of 1938 are an AU and didn't happen to the real Rang, but technically we haven't gotten any direct answers. It's just that if the writer tries to assert the time travel is within the same timeline, S1 canon has likely been erased (which I'm most deeply attached to S1 so that would be upsetting for me), but it'd also be nearly impossible to not create a ton of plot holes and time paradoxes if it's the same universe. I think it's entirely possible the writer already thought she made it clear/canon that it's an AU through Taluipa's dialogue and just didn't realize the fandom would argue semantics so much. Whether it is an AU or not, though, it still stands that Rang didn't get to live with his family for long when he wanted to, and that Yeon dying at the Samdocheon is the last time he ever saw Yeon alive : (( I desperately hope Rang's "let's meet again" can mean that Rang will get a happy ending in S3 of seeing Yeon. Not as a reincarnation, not as an AU version of himself, but in the modern day as he was. A real happy ending with his family. If it truly is an AU, the fact that Rang dies for Yeon in every universe is truly a testament to how much he loves Yeon. But on the flip side, I wish Rang could get to experience even an ounce of the love he has for others. It's like when one brother is happy, the other one is always sad. They're never on the same page.
