Exploring an ABANDONED House (Otis, MA)

Check out the full song here on his YouTube channel:    • [J-MASS THEME] City of Steam   Deep in the heart of the Berkshires, obscured by foliage off the side of a main road, stands an abandoned and derelict house, untouched by humans for years and reclaimed by nature. This abandoned house, located in the small town of Otis, Massachusetts, has seemingly been neglected for years now, with no sign of maintenance or interaction to speak of. While the exterior of the house is decayed and deteriorating, the interior is a treasure trove of old objects and antiques, left behind by its last owner. I could not determine when this house was abandoned, but through my research, this house was built in the year 1900, making it 124-years-old. From the objects inside, I could gauge a sense of when it was lived in; many newspapers were scattered across the floor, with one dating back to 1983. I found several books dating back to 1949, 1960, and 1982, respectively. Furthermore, an abandoned refrigerator, specifically a Servel Gas Refrigerator, sits neglected in the main room; these refrigerators were only produced and sold between 1926 and 1956. In many ways, this abandoned house is something of a time capsule, with the many fascinating items and relics strewn about inside it, offering a glimpse back to the mid-to-late 20th century. Of course, being abandoned and neglected seemingly for decades, this house is in rough shape, with collapsed floors, peeling walls, and slanted roofs. I did not even find any graffiti during my investigation, meaning that this is a truly untouched and unknown abandoned site. I first discovered this house last year while driving through Otis, and the disheveled, almost haunting look of the structure peeking out through the trees piqued my interest, and I immediately marked it down. Nearly a year later, and I have returned to explore this intriguing abandoned site! Within the realm of urban exploration, exploring random and obscure abandoned houses is always a risky adventure—but it sure is fun! I especially love discovering old artifacts while exploring houses, especially remnants of the past owners, and this house truly delivered! It had been months since my last urbex experience at an abandoned house, but this one truly reinvigorated my interest! Of course, being in the Berkshires, the house was situated in a lovely, scenic little town, which I was able to explore afterwards.
