While sitting on the balcony of a cruise ship, I spent time praying as the ocean stretched out before me and the night sky shone above. The gentle movement of the waves, the quiet wind, and the vastness of creation helped me slow down and open my heart to God.
I am a bivocational minister of music, balancing my calling to serve God with the responsibilities of everyday work and life. I love my church deeply, and serving alongside its people is one of the greatest blessings in my life. I’m also grateful for my wife, Susan, who supports me in this calling. She helps me in so many ways, and her presence is a joy and a blessing in my life.
Still, there are moments when I feel unworthy—when I wonder whether I’m truly qualified to lead others in worship or carry the responsibility God has placed before me. As I prayed, God reminded me that He does not ask me to serve from a place of perfection. He asks me to trust Him and offer what I have.
The lyrics began to come as I sat there, and they felt like a gift from God—a song rising out of prayer, gratitude, and surrender.
This song is my love letter to God and a reflection of that quiet moment on the water. It is about feeling small beneath the night sky, yet knowing that God sees me, holds me, and can still use my life and my voice for His purpose.
I hope this song encourages anyone who has ever felt inadequate or unworthy. Whether you serve in a church, work a full-time job, or simply try to follow God faithfully each day, your willingness matters. God can bring beauty from our weakness and use a sincere heart to bless others.
I love my church, I’m grateful for my calling, and I’m thankful for Susan, whose help, encouragement, and joy make this journey even more meaningful. Most of all, I’m thankful that God continues to give me songs to sing.
Thank you for listening. If this song touches your heart, please like, comment, and subscribe for more music.
Thanks also to my daughter for creating this video to the song so I could post.
