🔱 बैकुंठ धाम श्री गौरी शंकर मंदिर खुसरूपुर, बिहार Welcome to Baikunth Dham Shri Gauri Shankar Mandir, located at Baikatpur near Khusrupur in Patna district, Bihar — a famous and historically significant Shiva temple that attracts devotees from Patna and neighbouring districts, especially during Sawan and Mahashivratri. The temple is around 30–35 km east of Patna and is regarded as one of the prominent Shiva shrines of the region. 📍 Location Shri Gauri Shankar Baikunth Nath Dham Temple Baikatpur, Khusrupur, Patna District, Bihar, India. Khusrupur is situated on the eastern side of Patna, close to the Ganga. The temple is in Baikatpur village, which is popularly associated with the name Baikunth Dham. 🕉️ History & Mythological Significance Baikunth Dham has a rich connection with local religious traditions and legends. According to traditional accounts, the area was once known as Baikunth Van, and references to Baikuntha are associated with the region in religious traditions. One popular belief connects the temple with Lord Shri Ram, who is said to have worshipped Lord Shiva here. Another popular historical tradition connects the restoration of the temple with Raja Man Singh, the famous commander of Emperor Akbar. According to the legend, his boat became stuck near the area, after which Lord Shiva appeared to him in a dream and instructed him to restore the temple. This account is part of the temple's traditional history rather than independently established historical fact. 🔱 The Unique Gauri Shankar Shivling The most fascinating feature of this temple is its Gauri Shankar Shivling. Here, Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati are worshipped together in the form of a single Shivling. The Shivling is especially distinctive because it has 12 vertical sections or धारियाँ, with numerous smaller Shivlings associated with them. Local religious accounts describe approximately 1,200 small Shivlings, known as Rudras. Devotees believe that offering water to the upper part of the Shivling symbolically reaches both Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati, making this shrine particularly sacred for devotees. 🛕 Darshan & Puja Devotees mainly come here for: 🔱 Shivling Darshan 💧 Jalabhishek 🌿 Offering Bel Patra 🙏 Maa Parvati & Lord Shiva worship 🪔 Special prayers during Sawan 🔱 Mahashivratri celebrations During Sawan, the temple sees exceptionally large crowds.
