Tinubu Govt Responds After U.S. Fails Nigeria on Fiscal Transparency Test

Nigeria has once again failed to meet the United States’ minimum fiscal transparency requirements, according to the 2026 U.S. Fiscal Transparency Report. The report raised concerns over Nigeria’s budget information, budget implementation, auditing, public procurement and disclosure of natural-resource contracts. But the Tinubu administration has responded, saying the report should be properly contextualised and does not represent a complete assessment of Nigeria’s ongoing fiscal and financial management reforms.
