The Jeffersons (1975) Cast Then and Now: What Happened to the Cast After 51 Years?

The Jeffersons (1975) Cast Then and Now: What Happened to the Cast After 51 Years? The Jeffersons cast then and now: fifty-one years after the series moved on up to CBS on January 18, 1975, what became of the people who lived in that deluxe apartment in the sky? This video follows the cast to today, covering who is still working, who stepped away from the spotlight, and who is no longer with us. Inside this video, we look back at Sherman Hemsley, Isabel Sanford, Roxie Roker and Franklin Cover, then at the Jeffersons' son Lionel as played by Mike Evans and Damon Evans, along with Berlinda Tolbert, Paul Benedict and Zara Cully. We also revisit Ned Wertimer, Mel Stewart, Garrett Morris, Ernest Harden Jr., Jay Hammer and Ebonie Smith, and save one beloved cast member for the end: Marla Gibbs. A behind-the-scenes section shares production stories, including how Mel Stewart stood in as a Jefferson before Sherman Hemsley arrived, how the ratings rose and fell over eleven seasons, and why a series with 253 episodes never filmed a goodbye. A short In Memoriam segment remembers cast and crew members who have passed away, including Isabel Sanford, Sherman Hemsley, Ja'Net DuBois and Norman Lear. Details come from published interviews, obituaries and public records, and anything that could not be fully confirmed is described as reported or noted as unknown. Cast Then and Now is a series that revisits the casts of classic television shows and movies and shows where their careers and lives led. New videos arrive regularly, so there is always another classic to revisit.
