PDP convention at Sher e Kashmir Park Srinagar | Mehbooba Mufti Speech, Targets NC & BJP | News18

Thousands of people gathered at Sher-e-Kashmir Park in Srinagar to attend a convention organised by PDP to mark the party's Foundation Day. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, along with senior party leaders and workers, addressed the gathering. Mehbooba Mufti questioned why people of Jammu and Kashmir continue to face suspicion and alleged harassment despite the region's accession to India in 1947. Referring to the political history of Jammu and Kashmir, she questioned the role of National Conference founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, particularly his subsequent demand for a plebiscite after the accession. Holding the National Conference responsible for continued trust deficit between Kashmiris and the rest of the country, Mehbooba alleged that the NC has changed its political positions over the years for its own interests. She also criticised the National Conference for allegedly making different political statements in Kashmir and New Delhi, accusing its leadership of misleading people through unfulfilled promises.
