Alberta Kidney Care South’s new dialysis unit

For Wayne Heggie, dialysis means spending four to five hours at Chinook Regional Hospital three times a week. The space where he receives care makes a meaningful difference. “When you’re in dialysis, small little things make such a huge difference in my attitude,” says Heggie. “Here we have space.” Alberta Kidney Care South’s new dialysis unit opened at the Lethbridge hospital on July 20. The bright, welcoming space has room to care for more dialysis patients. It also includes a separate Kidney Care Clinic where eligible patients can learn to do dialysis at home. The new unit was made possible through a $23-million investment from the Government of Alberta.
