Frieza spends the entire Namek arc chasing immortality. It is the only thing he wants, and he crosses the galaxy and tortures a village for it. And he never calls his brother. The greed reading does not survive contact with the facts, because the Namekian Dragon Balls grant three wishes and Frieza only wanted one. There were two spare.
