Stand-up comedian Sheryl Underwood spares no one in her set. She calls it like she sees it and she is not happy with the interracial dating choices. Listen up! There will be a quiz at the end.
Sheryl Underwood is a comedian, actress and television host. She first rose to prominence in the comedy world as the first female finalist in 1989's Miller Lite Comedy Search. She later became one of the hosts on the CBS Daytime talk show The Talk from September 2011 to December 2024, becoming the show's longest running co-host. She received a Daytime Emmy Award in 2017 and overall has been nominated seven times.
It’s Showtime at the Apollo is the original TV variety show that premiered in 1987 and ran for over two decades. Filmed at the historic Apollo Theater, it showcased live music, comedy, and dance performances, featuring established stars and new talent. Some of the biggest names in comedy and music either got their break on the Apollo stage.
A defining part of the show was its use of the theater’s famous Amateur Night, where new performers competed in front of a notoriously vocal audience. Howard “Sandman” Sims was the enforcer. If the audience turned against a performer, he would come out and literally “sweep” the act off the stage.
Known for rotating hosts, the show did have regulars like Sinbad and later Steve Harvey, while Kiki Shepard served as a longtime co-host from 1987 to 2002. The program played a significant role in bringing the legacy of the Apollo Theater—a major venue in African American history—to a national TV audience. In 1991, the show earned an NAACP Image Award.
