When I first spotted Linda Meadows' home on Facebook I thought it would be a perfect fit for Country Sampler magazine and the editor agreed. All her seasonal decorating was so lovely and I was curious what season the editor would send us to capture. The moment we walked through her door, it was clear her Spring decorating was the winner! Linda and her husband Larry live in a 1,400 square foot attached townhouse in northern Alabama — and what she has done with that space will absolutely take your breath away. What strikes you most is how Linda has taken a modest modern space and given it a soul. There is not a corner that feels unintentional — every piece has been chosen with purpose and placed with the eye of someone who has spent a lifetime curating a home that feels deeply personal and completely timeless. Every room feels like a step back in time. The kitchen alone stops you in your tracks — faux log cabin wallpaper, a gorgeous copper backsplash, and an open pantry transformed into the most wonderful country display. The living room fireplace wall is wrapped in warm stained wood with a rustic mantel, and everywhere you turn there are cupboards, dry sinks, crocks, firkins and wooden bowls — each one with a story to tell. Lots of DIY ideas to add country to your home from inside warm taupe painted walls and outside planters, picket fences and the list just goes on. Watch to the end — Linda's backyard is full of surprises, with repurposed planters, rustic outdoor living and a freestanding porch her brother crafted just for her that is pure country charm. We arrived on a warm May morning and honestly we never wanted to leave. Linda and Larry were the most gracious hosts — and they even introduced us to Whitt's BBQ, which was so good we went back the very next day before heading home!
