A boy at the bottom of a well, and no one knows where he is. This is the story of Prophet Yusuf.
His brothers put him there. His father was told he was dead. And then Allah inspired him: "You will surely inform them of this affair of theirs while they do not perceive who you are." (Surah Yusuf 12:15)
In Part 1 of the story of Prophet Yusuf, we go through Surah Yusuf 12:3-22: the dream of eleven stars, the sun and the moon, Ya'qub's warning and promise, why the brothers hated Yusuf, the plot, the well, the false blood on the shirt, the caravan, and the boy sold for a few dirhams. We keep the Qur'an, authentic hadith, tafsir and the Bible separate and label each one, and we cover what the Qur'an leaves unsaid, such as where the well was, how old Yusuf was, and who spoke in verse 10. The Qur'an says "shirt", not a coat of many colours.
This is the Islamic perspective on Prophet Yusuf (Joseph), told as a documentary from the Qur'an and classical sources.
