POV: You Are Rockefeller — The Most Hated Rich Man in America

You are John D. Rockefeller, and every part of this is real. This is his whole life, in second person, every rank of it: from a bookkeeper on fifty cents a day to the first billionaire in history. From The Inside puts you inside someone else's entire life, not a highlight reel but the whole thing: the ordinary mornings, the decisions that mattered, and the years in between. Every episode is a different life, told in second person, so you don't just watch it — you live it. This episode starts on a golf course in 1911, on the day the government broke Standard Oil into thirty-four pieces, and the most hated man in America smiled. Then it goes back to a con-man father who taught his son never to trust anyone, a teenage bookkeeper who wrote down every penny, an auction won at twenty-five, and the six weeks that swallowed a whole city's oil business. It doesn't skip the men he ruined, the woman who exposed him, or the tents that burned at Ludlow. And it goes all the way to the end, at ninety-seven, three years short of the hundred he wanted. A NOTE ON SOURCES Every date and number in this film was checked against the documented record, not taken from a single retelling. Where other popular versions of this story get things wrong — who named the "Cleveland Massacre", who really exposed his father's double life — the film follows the record, not the legend. Where the record itself is only a family story, the film says so. New episodes go up every two weeks.
