Most people learn languages with AI by chatting with it. It feels productive, and it barely works.
In this video I build a full beginner French course with Claude in a few minutes, then run one story through the method that actually works: read and listen to it, train its words, then use them in a real conversation.

I'm a complete beginner in French. Design a graded reading course for me: 10 short stories that together teach the 500 most common French words. Story 1 is A1 and very short (80–120 words); each story gets a bit longer, ending around 300–400 words at A2. Each story introduces about 50 new words, each repeated at least 3 times, and reuses words from earlier stories. Around 90–95% of every story should be words I already know. Present tense first; past tense from story 6. Same two characters throughout, with a bit of humour. Write all 10 stories.
