The performance includes many of the same musical selections and much of the same band personnel that would go on to represent Murray High School at the Marching Bands of America Summer Nationals the following June. While actual footage of the Tiger Band’s performance at the 1977 Summer Nationals in Whitewater, Wisconsin is unlikely to exist, Music for All wishes to recognize the students, staff, and community of the 1977 Marching Bands of America Grand National Champion - the Murray High School Band, under the direction of Joe R. Sills. Their commitment to excellence and lasting impact remain an inspiring chapter in the history of Bands of America. 50 for 50 is a video series that celebrates Music for All's 50th anniversary year – 2025 – by highlighting some of the special Bands of America band performances through the years. Bands of America is a program of Music for All, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Learn more at musicforall.org.
