JACKSON LAMB Explained: The Best Character on TV Is a Disguise

Critics call Jackson Lamb the best character on TV, and honestly, most of us love him for the farting and the insults. The thing is, Lamb killed his own boss in a bathtub. And the season six premiere of Slow Horses finally let Catherine hear about it. At a funeral, of all places. You can see it at the grave, too. Lamb doesn't even react. If you think about it, Diana didn't pick that moment by accident. Gary Oldman once described Lamb as George Smiley if everything had gone wrong. I took that literally. So this video goes through the Smiley he played in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and was never allowed to play again, the one mistake that put Lamb in Slough House, and the one person he lied to for years. In other words, it's about where season six is taking that lie. Heads-up, though. Book spoilers about Lamb's past start a couple of minutes in, and the video flags the moment. On the show side, nothing past season six, episode three. What's funny is how long the show sat on this. It's been there since season one, episode six. And it's no coincidence that the same episode drops Smiley's name a couple of minutes earlier. If you like it when a show turns out to be about more than its jokes, subscribe. We're covering the finale on October 21st.
