In this tutorial I walk you through AstroPics Lab 3.1 Beta, a Windows app for processing astrophotography images with AI. We go from a raw linear FITS/XISF stack to a finished image, and then share it straight to the AstroPics Community gallery.
What’s new in 3.1 Beta
• Full linear workflow: gradient removal, color calibration, AI denoise and AI star separation, all before you stretch
• AI Separate (Linear): split stars and nebula in linear data, then stretch both layers together. Recombining them always gives back your original image
• Interactive stretch panel: MTF or GHS, with a live histogram and draggable markers
• “Help me process” assistant: it suggests the processing steps based on your image and target type
• Faint Signal Boost (experimental): gently brings out faint halos and IFN without boosting the noise
• Upload to AstroPics Community: publish your image in one click, with object, equipment, filters and processing steps filled in automatically from your FITS header
• XISF support and many fixes and improvements
