A dominant performance inspired by Follin and Zych sees Blue Star running out comfortable winners at home. It was a bright start for the hosts as despite the first chance of the game falling to Benfield’s Colquhoun, it was the Blue Star attack that was causing the most problems. The lightning pace of the Blue Star attack eventually led to Follin being brought down in the box and rewarded with a spot kick, which was slotted away by Zych for his first of the game, though he could’ve had two by this point as he was denied by Hughes shortly before. It was the ultimate misery compiler by Blue Star as only moments after scoring the first of the game, Follin doubled Blue Star’s lead after he was laid off by Zych in plenty of space at the edge of the area. Blue Stars youthful attack continued to thrive and Zych came close multiple times to his second goal of the game. A beautiful passage of play saw Coulthard play through Zych who tucked away his second of the game. A goal from open play was the least Zych deserved after his first half performance. Despite being 3-0 up in just 40 minutes, Blue Stars ruthless first half antics were not over yet. Follin got back in on the action to join Zych in grabbing his second of the night as he got on the end of a loose ball for a tap in after Burke’s cross was not dealt with by the Benfield defence. A truly rampant first half display by Blue Star as they saw themselves 4-0 up at half time. Any doubt that Blue Star would ease off in the second half was shut down almost instantaneously after the half started as Kilic played through Follin who finished excellently for his hat-trick. A night to remember for the young midfielder! Zych had a chance to complete a hat-trick too but was denied well by Hughes in the Benfield net. A scrappy corner at the other end saw Roys convert for Benfield. It would be a long way back for the visitors, but the goal gave them a glimmer of hope as they started to take more control of the ball and pressure off their defence. Ogidan was off the bench to replace the sensational Zych and almost got involved in the action himself but was stumbling as he shot just wide of the near post. Shortly after he found himself open in the box, but Da Silva chose to go alone and could only win a corner. The second half was fairly uneventful but Blue Star did more than enough in the first half as they blew Newcastle Benfield away, eventually winning 5-1.
