Rowten Pot sumps freedive

On 23/7/26 Will Burnett, Connor Cannings & Scott Nixon of KCC (Kendal Caving Club) free dive through the 3 sumps to the Kingsdale Master Cave to make an exit via Valley Entrance. The first sump is the longest at 8 metres, then the next is 4 metres and the last a couple of metres. We’ve had some really dry months recently and the levels were so good that the final sump for us was a duck with an airspace. Massive shout out to Dave from KCC for heading off fist to start rigging Rowten Pot for us, we descended via the Eye-hole route and then a variation of the main pitch and below that those from KCC like to call the McGarry special. Again thanks to Dave, Sophie and Ami for de-rigging once we’d made our way through the sump’s to the other side. Fantastic trip, my first ever attempt at free diving sumps too with no practice 😂 glad I didn’t get it wrong!
