The historic architecture, warm brickwork, arches, domes and famous clock tower make this one of the most recognisable sights in Kuala Lumpur. From Merdeka Square, we walk to Central Market. Once a wet market, it is now known for local crafts, textiles, souvenirs, artwork and Malaysian culture. Next comes Petaling Street, the heart of Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown. We explore the busy streets and stop for the famous Air Mata Kucing, a local drink that brings back memories from many years ago. We then visit REXKL, the former Rex Cinema now transformed into a creative and cultural space. Inside is BookXcess, an unusual bookstore built around the old cinema structure. From there, we stop for lunch at Mingle Café, an old shophouse café in Chinatown. Our walk continues towards Lorong Petaling 2 and Kwai Chai Hong, known for its old-style Chinatown atmosphere and murals. Kwai Chai Hong is closed during our visit for celebration preparations, so we explore the surrounding streets before stopping at Peranakan Place @ Petaling Street. Then it's time for Bukit Bintang, one of Kuala Lumpur's busiest districts. We experience the famous pedestrian crossing and simply join the crowd as the city moves around us. Food is, of course, part of the journey. We stop at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur for a burger from KGB (Killer Gourmet Burgers), followed by a visit to Lot 10 Hutong to try a Macau-style pork chop bun. As night falls, we head to Jalan Alor Food Street, one of Kuala Lumpur's best-known food streets, with restaurants, stalls, crowds, lights and plenty of atmosphere. Yes, it is touristy — but sometimes you just have to join the crowd. The following day starts with breakfast at ICC Pudu, a popular food centre with plenty of Malaysian and local Chinese food choices. After breakfast, we head to The Exchange 106 and TRX City Park, a large rooftop green space surrounded by the modern skyscrapers of Tun Razak Exchange. For lunch, we visit Together Nasi Lemak 毅启香米椰浆饭, where the menu includes pork berempah nasi lemak and pork rendang nasi lemak, alongside more familiar choices. We then return to Bukit Bintang and walk through Sungei Wang Plaza before taking the monorail to LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre. Its modern design and open spaces offer a very different atmosphere. And before leaving Kuala Lumpur, there is one final and very important souvenir — Gardenia bread! 😂 📍 PLACES VISITED [01:05] KL Sentral [02:01] Merdeka Square / Sultan Abdul Samad Building [04:29] Central Market [05:48] Petaling Street [06:30] REXKL & BookXcess [09:47] Kwai Chai Hong [11:21] Bukit Bintang [11:53] Pavilion [15:27] Jalan Alor Food Street [16:23] ICC Pudu [17:45] The Exchange TRX [20:28] LaLaport Merdeka Square / Sultan Abdul Samad Building: https://maps.app.goo.gl/SD7561zx1TcHz...
