I Wanna Know (知りたい) is our first song in both English and Japanese, with lyric help from my mom! For VGM vibes - this song has Katamari, Mario Kart, Pilotwings vibes with the jazzy chords and refreshing sounds. We've also been told on stream that it has Stardew Valley vibes, which we could imagine as being part of Sam's Electronic Band! Since this song sounds both nostalgic/modern, I went for this theme with the visuals and album art for the song. I spent a ton of time building visual fx combos that look retro in FCPX. Donut helped me by sending me some of his presets that he uses to make retro looks, and I added my favorite ones along with those and tweaked every clip. Song meaning lore thoughts: As with all songs, I'm going to communicate what it's about. This song is about…communication! People have different ways to process things so much so, that it can feel like you're speaking different languages. The Japanese lyrics translations say things like "my mind is scattered, I can't get the words out". (Full translations in bottom of description) The recurring images of Crater Lake symbolizes the song's theme, being that it's full of mysteries. It is the deepest lake in the US - there's so much to learn about it. In the song's story: at first, one singer is singing Japanese and the other in English, and through the song they learn to work together to better understand each other. They end up harmonizing in both languages together. This symbolizes working through communication challenges with others, seeing things from other perspectives, and processing things within oneself. That's when you find harmony. More lore: The synth solo was done by Zane, who has recorded some awesome synths with us on several shows and projects. He couldn't be here for filming so we just split learning the solo up between the two of us and worked around it for the video XD. More video lore and thoughts: I blended the nature and ocean shots with the retro looking shots to represent our sound as a whole. Blending acoustic sounds (vocals, guitar) with electronic VGM sounds is a huge part of our soundscape and this video really represents that! In this day and age there are no limits to the type of music people can make and that's a very cool thing.
