Building a pit latrine

A key component of our WASH initiatives is encouraging and supporting partner families to build pit latrines or dry pit toilets for improved sanitation and health. Usually built using wood and clay or as conventional brick structures, if bricks are available, these pit latrines are easy to build and maintain. Additionally, through training on good hygiene practices, partner families are also encouraged to install tippy taps with soap or ash, as per availability, for handwashing.
