You ask ChatGPT to fix a few typos, and it hands back "Dear Team, I hope this message finds you well." The typos are gone. So is your voice.
Five copy-paste prompt moves to proofread with AI and keep your own voice: fix errors only, lock your voice, show every change as a list, flag unclear lines instead of rewriting them, and check the diff so anything beyond a real error fix gets undone. Works in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any chat assistant.
What you will learn:
1. FIX ERRORS ONLY: define an error (spelling, grammar, punctuation, typos) and what's off-limits (word choice, tone, sentence length)
2. LOCK YOUR VOICE: list what must stay (contractions, casual words, on-purpose fragments, your spelling style) and ban added greetings and filler
3. SHOW EVERY CHANGE: a list of original, fix, and reason, so you can accept or reject each one
4. FLAG IT, DON'T REWRITE IT: unclear lines get a [QUESTION] marker, your sentence stays as written
5. CHECK THE DIFF: compare original and edited text, and undo any change that isn't a real error fix

6:18 Your move
Copy-paste A) Fix errors only
PROOFREAD the text below. Fix errors only.
ERRORS = spelling, grammar, punctuation, typos.
DO NOT change word choice, tone, or sentence length.
IF it's already correct, leave it exactly as it is.
Copy-paste B) Lock your voice
KEEP my voice: [casual / contractions / short sentences].
LEAVE these alone, they're on purpose: [fragments, slang, words].
USE [American / British] spelling.
NEVER add greetings, sign-offs, or filler phrases.
Copy-paste C) Show every change
DON'T send back a new version first.
LIST every change: original → fix → reason.
ONE line per change, in order.
THEN give me the corrected text. No other edits.
Copy-paste D) Flag it, don't rewrite it
IF a line is unclear, don't rewrite it. Mark it [QUESTION: ...].
KEEP my original sentence exactly as written.
LIST your questions at the end.
ONLY suggest a rewrite if I ask for one.
Copy-paste E) Check the diff
COMPARE my original with your version, line by line.
LIST any change that isn't spelling, grammar, or punctuation.
MARK each one: NOT AN ERROR.
THEN undo those changes and show the final text.
How this differs from our other videos:
Make AI write like you: that one teaches it your style so it can write new text. Here you already wrote it, and you only want the mistakes fixed.
Edit ChatGPT with diff prompts: that one edits AI's own answers. Here it's your writing, and the rule is errors only.
Rewrite emails that get replies: that one changes structure and wording on purpose. Here the wording stays yours.
Honest catch: Even with these rules, AI can miss an error, "fix" something that was already right (like a name or a technical term), or slip in a change you didn't ask for. Read the final version yourself, out loud if you can. You decide what stays.
Made-up demos: the team note, the typos, the chats, the change lists, and the over-edited reply shown in the video are illustrative examples written for this video, not real AI output.
Accuracy note: this video teaches prompt habits for proofreading with a chat assistant, not features of any specific AI product. Bracketed parts of the templates are placeholders you fill in. No invented stats. Habits, not guarantees.
