“EY AY (Deluxe Slay Jazz)” is the second album by Piotr Chęcki - an artist who, after the intimate and home-recorded debut “PE,” returns with something radically different: a live, spontaneous work captured entirely in real time. If “PE” was a personal document of moments enclosed within a controlled studio environment, then “EY AY” is its opposite - a sonic organism that breathes, pulses, and unfolds in the here and now. The album was created in just two weeks, during a surge of intense inspiration. Chęcki developed a series of compositional sketches which were then expanded together with drummer Tymek Papior and pianist Marcel Baliński during a single six-hour recording session. Most importantly, the entire album was recorded in one take. No overdubs, no edits, no second takes. It is a document of pure presence - a moment that can never happen again. The subtitle “Deluxe Slay Jazz” carries an additional personal layer of meaning. It is a subtle yet significant nod to one of Chęcki’s greatest passions - ski jumping - while the acronym “DSJ” may evoke the cult-classic 1999 computer game Deluxe Ski Jump. “EY AY” is a project that redefines Chęcki’s approach to music-making. Instead of constructing rigid structures - trust in the process. Instead of production - interaction. Instead of perfection - authenticity.
