Comics, crooners and knock-off mutant Wombles

As the regurgitated Corned Beef of our childhoods remind us endlessly - things were better in a day that was a different day than today. Such as 1976 when an issue of The Stage (and Television Today, "great news for all readers inside" fans) took the pulse of British light entertainment and found who was going straight to the top or heading into fame's flaming compost heap. On top of that heap are Ben Baker and John Matthews who ponder upon such questions as... Which major comedy star was slumming it with the Black and White Minstrels? Who was the third Faith Brown? What is Norman Collier doing to that donkey? Did Colin Crompton ever meet Anthony H Wilson? Where are the Robeytones' bodies today? And why did nobody commission a detective show called "Rod Hull and the Emu"? Find out more in the new House of Splain. Do you remember any of these? Would you like to see more of this issue?
