Rosh Zac -- 17-Aug-20, 08.00IST The Eternal Ethics of God [Part3] Exodus 20:7-8 🕯️ “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. -- Exodus 20.7 NIV ▫️ I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him. I myself will call to account anyone who does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name. 🧨 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.”-- Deuteronomy 18.18‭-‬20 NIV ▫️ You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord ?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message, the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed. Deuteronomy 18.21‭-‬22 NIV 📍 A False Prophecy -- 🧨 “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon. Within two years I will bring back to this place all the articles of the Lord ’s house that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed from here and took to Babylon.Jeremiah 28.2‭-‬3 NIV ▫️ Then the prophet Jeremiah replied to the prophet Hananiah before the priests and all the people who were standing in the house of the Lord . From early times the prophets who preceded you and me have prophesied war, disaster and plague against many countries and great kingdoms. But The Prophet Who Prophesies Peace Will Be Recognized As One Truly Sent By The Lord ONLY IF HIS PREDICTION COMES TRUE.” -- Jeremiah 28.5‭, ‬8‭-‬9 NIV 💢 _Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, “Listen, Hananiah! The Lord has not sent you, yet you have persuaded this nation to trust in lies. Therefore this is what the Lord says: ‘I am about to remove you from the face of the earth. This Very Year You Are Going To Die, because you have preached rebellion against the Lord .’ ” -- Jeremiah 28.15‭-‬16 NIV 💢 But I tell you that Everyone Will Have To Give Account on the day of judgment For EVERY EMPTY WORD THEY HAVE SPOKEN. FOR BY YOUR WORDS YOU WILL BE ACQUITTED, AND BY YOUR WORDS YOU WILL BE CONDEMNED.” -- Matthew 12.36‭-‬37 NIV 💢 “Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘DO NOT BREAK YOUR OATH, but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’ But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; Anything Beyond This Comes From The Evil One. -- Matthew 5.33‭-‬37 NIV 📍 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. -- 2 Timothy 4.3‭-‬4 NIV 💢 Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? -- Matthew 15.3 NIV_ 📍 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: “ ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ ” -- Matthew 15.7‭-‬9 NIV ⚡ Do not be easily angered. 🎖️ JESUS FIRST PRACTISED AND THEN HE PREACHED !! 🎖️ Am I just trying (i.e. the bare minimum) To avoid evil in my life -- OR -- am I trying to follow God's law (i.e. delighting in God's Word) ? 🕯️ _So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5.16 NIV 🕯️ For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
