2000 ALCS Game 2 Highlights | Seattle Mariners vs. New York Yankees

These are the highlights for Game 2 of the 2000 American League Championship Series. After a Game 1 victory for the Seattle Mariners against the New York Yankees, the Mariners have taken an early 1-0 lead. The Mariners would like to take these two games at Yankee Stadium in order to go to Seattle with a 2-0 lead and have chance to close this series out early. The New York Yankees, who have struggled to hit so far, are trying to pull even with the Mariners at a game a piece. The New York Yankees have Orlando “El Duque” Hernandez on the mound, who has had a 12-13 record with the Yankees and is pitching on his birthday. The Yankees are aware of his 4.51 ERA, but they hope that his immaculate postseason experience will be able to allow him to pitch a good ballgame. The Seattle Mariners have John Halama on the mound, who has had a 14-9 record with a 5.08 ERA for the Mariners. Lou Pinella, Mariners’s Manager, hopes to have Halama pitch at least 6 innings before they can go to the Seattle bullpen, which so far has not allowed a run in their postseason appearances. In Game 2, these two teams play one more game at Yankee Stadium before this series goes to Seattle for Game 3. Disclaimer: I do not own any of the clips and game footage shown in these highlights.
