What happens if it rains on your wedding day?
If you’re planning an outdoor wedding, having a rain plan (or more accurately, a complete wedding weather backup plan) is something you need to think about long before wedding week.
Because rain isn’t the only issue.
And LUCK can't be your weather plan.
Extreme heat, wind, thunderstorms, humidity, cold temperatures and even wet ground from rain the day before can completely change your wedding plans.
In this episode, I’m walking you through how I approach wedding weather as a professional wedding planner, including:
• What to ask your venue about its wedding rain plan
• How to evaluate the backup ceremony location before booking
• What outdoor weddings need beyond a tent
• How to prepare for rain, heat, wind, cold and storms
• Weather-related rentals you may need to reserve in advance
• Creating a guest comfort plan
• Backup locations for wedding photos
• When to start taking the wedding forecast seriously
• Why you shouldn’t check six different weather apps
• When your venue or planner may need to make the final weather call
• How to handle the disappointment if Plan B becomes the main plan
The biggest takeaway?
A good wedding weather plan isn’t about predicting the weather. It’s about making sure the weather doesn’t get to decide whether you have a good wedding.
If you’re planning your own wedding and want someone to help you figure out all the things you don’t know you’re supposed to be thinking about yet, that’s exactly what I created the Planning Collective for.
Inside you’ll find my wedding planning process, checklists, templates and tools, access to me for questions and support, and an AI Pocket Planner trained on my wedding planning content to help you find answers when you need them.
