The Cosmic Signal That May Come From Before The Big Bang | MICHIO KAKU

What if the big bang was not the beginning of everything? Modern string theory and brane cosmology suggest our universe may be just one event inside a vast, eleven dimensional structure that existed long before our cosmic clock started ticking. In this video, we explore the physics behind one of the most mind bending ideas in cosmology and ask whether a faint signal from a previous era could still be written across our sky. Discover how two colossal membranes drifting through hyperspace could have collided to ignite our universe in an ekpyrotic spark. Learn why gravity, carried by closed strings, may be free to travel through extra dimensions and bypass the singularity, leaving a gravitational echo from before the big bang. Then examine the mysterious rings of uniform temperature proposed in the cosmic microwave background and what they could mean for cyclic models of death and rebirth. We also separate established science from open speculation, so you know precisely what is proven, what is debated, and what upcoming gravitational wave observatories and cosmic microwave background missions may soon reveal. In this video you will learn: What string theory and M theory say about eleven dimensions and hyperspaceHow brane cosmology and the ekpyrotic model explain the origin of our universeWhy gravitons may bleed through the singularity from a previous universeWhat the cosmic microwave background rings could reveal about an earlier cosmic eraHow the infinite multiverse changes the way we understand the big bang If you love theoretical physics, cosmology, astrophysics, and the deepest questions about space and time, subscribe for more cinematic science explained through real physics.
