Learn how to install an underground city water service line from the curb stop to the meter pit using a Bobcat E35 mini excavator. In this video, we tackle the strict county code requirements for underground commercial water lines.
Join us back on the job site as we run underground municipal water lines across our development project. The county requires a single continuous poly water service line all the way from the municipal curb stop valve to the future meter location, meaning we had to excavate down 7 to 8 feet to do the tie-in properly.
We walk through the commercial-grade supplies we sourced from Ferguson Waterworks—specifically 1-inch continuous poly tubing and brass underground fittings—and show how we operate the rented Bobcat E35 mini-excavator to dig clean trenches safely. Watch the complete process as we prep the lines and wait on the county inspector to sign off before backfilling.
Have you ever had an inspector make you rerun a utility line to meet a continuous pipe spec? Let me know in the comments below how deep you have to dig in your area to get past the frost line! Don't forget to like and subscribe for more real-world project breakdowns.
