AI Product Management: Problem Framing & Opportunity Validation | PML School AI Lab Stop Guessing: Frame an AI Product Problem Like a Pro How do Product Managers identify the right problem before investing in a solution? In this recorded PML School session, Amit Kumar Garg explores how AI can support problem framing, challenge assumptions and evaluate product opportunities before teams commit to building solutions. Using the QuickCart online grocery scenario, this practical session demonstrates how to use AI as a Product Management thinking partner rather than simply an answer generator. What This Session Covers Problem Framing: Identify potential customer segments, goals, pain points and problems before considering solutions. Facts, Assumptions and Unknowns: Separate what is known from what needs investigation. AI as a Devil's Advocate: Challenge assumptions, explore alternative explanations and identify evidence gaps. Opportunity Validation: Evaluate opportunities across user value, business value, technical feasibility, and risk and uncertainty. Product Decision-Making: Understand when to investigate, proceed, reshape, pause or reject an opportunity. Mini Product Management Charter: Translate problem analysis into a structured product direction and next steps. Hands-on AI Lab: The QuickCart Challenge The session uses one continuous product scenario: QuickCart, an online grocery delivery platform, is experiencing increasing cart abandonment. Leadership proposes an AI-powered shopping assistant. But is that really the problem worth solving? The lab follows four practical steps: Frame the Problem – Create a structured customer problem statement. Challenge Assumptions – Identify assumptions, evidence requirements and alternative explanations. Validate the Opportunity – Build an AI-assisted opportunity scorecard. Create a Mini PM Charter – Translate your analysis into a product recommendation and next action. Three Practical Product Artefacts By following the exercise, you can create: A Structured Problem Statement. An Opportunity Scorecard. A Mini Product Management Charter. The exercise also produces an Assumption & Evidence List as a supporting working document. Who Will Benefit? Aspiring and practising Product Managers MBA and management students Business Analysts Project Managers Founders and entrepreneurs Technology professionals transitioning into Product Management Professionals exploring AI-native product management No coding required. The session focuses on structured thinking, practical AI application and better product decisions.
