Old Hollywood’s Most Disturbing Unsolved Deaths | 10 Cases Never Solved

Hollywood sells dreams — and buries its dead with the lights on. This documentary counts down the 10 most disturbing UNSOLVED deaths of old Hollywood, from the Black Dahlia and Marilyn Monroe to Thelma Todd, George Reeves, and the century-old murder of director William Desmond Taylor. Ten bodies. Zero answers. These are the real golden-age mysteries that were never solved. Inside: the poisoning of silent-era flapper Olive Thomas in Paris (1920), the covered-up death of Three Stooges creator Ted Healy (1937), the murder of Hollywood Canteen hostess Georgette Bauerdorf (1944), the disappearance of dancer Jean Spangler and her cryptic note (1949), the rumor that William Randolph Hearst shot producer Thomas Ince on his yacht (1924), the "suicide" of TV Superman George Reeves (1959), the Ice Cream Blonde Thelma Todd found dead in her car (1935), the unsolved shooting of director William Desmond Taylor (1922), the endlessly debated death of Marilyn Monroe (1962), and the most famous unsolved murder in American history — the Black Dahlia, Elizabeth Short (1947). Every case here is drawn from the historical record — newspapers, inquests, biographies and police history — and told without graphic detail. Fact first, legend second.
