Is a Fairchild really worth $50,000 when Acustica Ultramarine 4 & UAD Fairchild 670 is $300?

'REAL' FAIRCHILD (MIX ANALOG) vs PLUGINS | Acustica Audio Ultramarine 4 vs Universal Audio Fairchild This week on mixing wednesdays I have an even bigger analog vs digital plugins shootout to top last weeks real pultec eqp1a vs plugin shootout video as I have managed to get my virtual hands on more analog hardware, this time via analog gear online streaming website MIX ANALOG. This analog streaming platform boasts their very own distopik fairchild 670 vari mu tube compressor which was made with original fairchild parts as well as genuine replacement parts via vintage king. I have created similar fairchild compressor plugin shootouts with klanghelm MJUC, overloud, waves puigchild and stuff but never a real deal fairchild! The acustica ultramarine 4 has the added benefit of the shmod which helps control transients more and also includes look ahead in lower settings which I actually used in the vocals. The UAD fairchild plugin has a sidechain filter to control low end compression (as does acustica audio plugins) as well as tone functions to add more bottom or high end. It would have been great to have a genuine tube fairchild compressor from abbey road but for now .. this is the best i can source for all of you audio geeks and inquisitive audio engineers.
