Dr. Berhe’s laboratory is focused on understanding how changing environmental conditions influence soil processes, including the essential element recycling in the critical zone (i.e., the movement, transformation, and storage of nutrients in the life-support system of the Earth). This is important for sustainability and food security, climate regulation, and understanding how human activities impact the natural cycle.
