Brian Miller (The Laggan, Swan Arcade, The Occasionals, The Stars Band) Interview (10/15/26)

Brian Miller is a Scottish folk guitarist who is well respected for his work in preserving and promoting traditional music over his career. During the 70’s while studying at Glasgow University Brian played in the traditional folk band The Laggan. Brian would go on to play professionally with vocal folk group Swan Arcade and later with the bands The Occasionals and The Stars Band. Brian has played with folk acts and artists like Tom Paxton, The Singing Kettle, Mirk, Barbara Dickson, The Battlefield Band and with his own daughter Siobhan Miller. Mr. Miller ran the Penicuik Folk Club and Festival for several years and has served as Treasurer for the Traditional Music and Song Association of Scotland. Since 2010 he has hosted the weekly folk music radio show on Black Diamond FM community radio station. My guest does perform occasionally with Dougie MacKenzie and records as well.
