Avon 400DL Jet Rib Electric Conversion

At the beginning of summer, we were commissioned to give a new lease of life to a much loved, but noisy, smoky and almost unusable Avon 400DL. We began by removing the 2 stroke Yamaha engine, fuel tank and exhaust system. We left the original jet drive in place and connected a 55kW DC motor powered by 25kWh of batteries housed in custom built, shock and waterproof housings. Along with all new internal electrics we replaced the Nav lights, installed a GPS speedo, a keypad ignition, and a Clearview battery display monitor. The Whispa Jet was born. The present owner (the boat was previously owned by Roger Moore!) can now cruise the rivers where he lives only hearing the sound of the water rushing from the jet and smelling nothing but the fresh air. It was very satisfying to give someone's pride and joy a second life in a way that compliment's the surroundings peacefulness and no longer emits pollution and particulates into the environment.
