Week one on the Colonial Classic. Nana's house in Rocky River, Ohio — the house James's grandparents built their life in, and the house Papa built onto himself — starts its renovation. This episode is the night before, the before-tour with Mom, the stone yard, the plan, and demo day. Mom grew up in this house. She takes the first swing. Four generations are standing in the room when she does it. Ten independent contractors on site. A crawl space under the main bathroom nobody knew existed. A hand-painted mural by G. Jantz, the man who painted the murals at the old Austria restaurant, coming off a wall for the last time. And Papa's woodwork, which is being preserved. Designed and managed by Lanikai Homes. Construction by independent licensed contractors.
