Fully Offline Synchronized Audio Alerts & Music (Part1)

While having a single speaker playing an alert is great, the holy grail of audio alerts is having complete synchronization of the alerts across speakers. I originally used my Google Home speakers for audio alerts inside Home Assistant using a synchronized group. When I ditched my Google Homes, I decided to implement a solution that works fully offline and provides the ability to seamlessly interrupt music when an audio alert is played. In Part 1 of this video series, I discuss two options for a full DIY synchronized audio alert and music streaming setup for my house. There are tons of options out there, so I wanted to help narrow it down for others looking for a similar setup. The first option is Logitech Media Server along with the Group Players and ShairTunes addons. The second option is using Snapcast, Mopidy, and Shairplay-Sync. All the endpoints devices are Raspberry Pis with external speakers attached to a HiFiBerry addon to provide higher quality audio.
