Not Your Usual Granny Square! Quick & Easy Crochet for Beginners

Crochet this unusual daisy granny square with me! 🌼 This quick and easy tutorial is beginner-friendly and adds a fresh floral twist to the classic granny square. 🧶 MATERIALS For this project, I used four colors of Cotton Saffron cotton yarn and a 3 mm crochet hook. You can use any yarn you like! Choose a hook size that suits your yarn—you’ll find the recommended hook size on the yarn label. Different yarn weights and hook sizes will change the finished size of your square. 💧 DON’T SKIP BLOCKING Blocking helps your stitches settle, opens up the flower petals, and gives your square a neat, even shape. For this cotton square, follow the care instructions on your yarn label: • Soak gently in lukewarm water for about 15–20 minutes. If needed, add a little mild detergent suitable for your yarn and rinse gently afterward. • Carefully squeeze out excess water without twisting or wringing. • Roll the square in a clean towel and press gently to remove more moisture. • Lay it flat on a blocking mat or clean towel. Gently shape it into a square, straighten the edges, and arrange the petals without overstretching. • Secure with rustproof pins if needed, then leave it to dry completely. If you use a different fiber, choose a blocking method suitable for that yarn.
