Arya Gets Her Revenge | Game of Thrones Season 4 Episode 1 Reaction

Game of Thrones Season 4 Episode 1 “Two Swords” reaction — and yeah, Westeros wastes no time reminding us that everybody is still carrying consequences from the Red Wedding. Tywin Lannister opens the season melting down Ice, taking the Stark family sword and literally turning their legacy into Lannister property. Jaime is back in King’s Landing minus a hand and finds out real quick that coming home does not mean coming back to the same life. Sansa is surviving grief. Jon Snow has to answer for what he did beyond the Wall. Daenerys keeps moving toward Meereen. Then Oberyn Martell shows up. This man did not come to King’s Landing to sightsee. The Mountain killed his sister, the Lannisters are sitting on the throne, and Oberyn walks into the story with REVENGE basically written across his character sheet. But Arya gets the payoff. She and the Hound walk into a tavern, run into Polliver, and suddenly one of the names tied to her trauma is standing right there. Needle comes back home, the Hound wants some damn chickens, and Arya gets a chance to stop just carrying what happened to her and actually do something about it. Me and Pearish get into the power shifts, character choices, revenge, grief, and consequences running through “Two Swords.” I’ve seen Game of Thrones before, although it has been years and there is plenty I do not remember cleanly. Pearish knows much of the story from the books but has seen far less of the HBO series, so we get that mix of memory, book knowledge, fresh reactions, arguments, and “wait, what the hell are they doing?” moments.
