Continuum Hypothesis in Fluid Mechanics

An illustrative explanation of the importance of the continuum hypothesis in fluid mechanics is presented here! Here we define the mean-free path concept and how it is relevant to the dimension of the fluid particle considered. This is the basis for applying the conservation of mass, momentum, and energy to a fluid particle, eventually yielding the continuity, Navier-stokes, and the heat equation.
