10 things Depression-era households never threw away, and most of us toss every single week. Bacon grease, bread heels, chicken bones, pickle juice, glass jars, old T-shirts and more. Nothing to buy, nothing to learn from scratch. In a house like mine, it adds up to about $740 a year.
My mother-in-law Ruth grew up in the Depression and taught me every one of these in her kitchen. Nobody passed them on to the next generation. So I'm passing them on to you.
Which one did your mother or grandmother do that you stopped doing? Tell me in the comments. I read every single one.
