Maria Mazzotta – final song & encore, live at the World Music Festival Bratislava, accompanied by Sicilian accordionist Antonino De Luca. Hailing from Puglia in southern Italy, Maria Mazzotta is one of the most distinctive voices of contemporary Mediterranean music. Her powerful and deeply emotional singing moves effortlessly between the traditional sounds of pizzica and the melodies of the Balkans. From 2000 to 2015, Mazzotta was a member of the acclaimed Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, who have also performed at the World Music Festival Bratislava. She later embarked on a successful solo career, with her 2020 album Amoreamarobecoming a major international breakthrough. The album brings together songs about the many faces of love, combining compositions by renowned Italian songwriters with traditional folk material. It received numerous awards and international recognition, including Top 10 positions in the World Music Charts Europe and the Transglobal World Music Chart. Mazzotta has toured the Amoreamaro repertoire extensively, performing more than 250 concerts across dozens of countries. For her Bratislava debut, she was joined by the acclaimed Sicilian accordionist Antonino De Luca, who has collaborated with numerous Italian and international artists.
